West Fargo, N.D. – Scammers are apparently going to great lengths to get their hands on your cash.
The West Fargo Police Department says they’ve been made aware of scammers who are using the exact names of their law enforcement members.
In particular, police say the perpetrator is claiming to be either Detective Ryan Birney or Captain Derek Cruff.
Authorities say the crook instructs the victim to send gift cards in connection to an alleged outstanding warrant.
If you get such a suspicious call or voicemail, police advise contacting them directly to make sure it’s real.
