FARGO-MOORHEAD – A Red River Valley SWAT Bomb Team leader said his team responds to up to 75 calls in one year, but a majority of them aren’t for explosive devices.

“We don’t want ammunition to end up in landfills, so at local police departments you can turn in ammunition. That is one our missions is that we collect that and destroy it properly,” Bomb Squad Commander Sergeant Nick Leinen said on WDAY Radio’s “The Coffee Club”.

Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the bomb squad is the busiest unit of the Red River Valley SWAT team.
