Sofferman drops out of Moorhead mayoral race

MOORHEAD, MINN. — A non-profit leader running for mayor in Moorhead has announced she’s dropping out of the race.

Kassi Sofferman said the decision came ‘after a great deal of reflection.’

“This wasn’t an easy decision because I truly believed our community was ready for a different perspective,” she said in a Facebook post. “I wanted to bring the perspective of working families and lower-income residents into conversations where those voices are too often missing.”

Sofferman said she’ll continue to advocate for working families, affordability, accessibility and ‘a government that listens to all of its residents.’

“This may be the end of this campaign, but it isn’t the end of my commitment to this community,” she said.

Two people have filed to run for the position – former mayor Del Rae Williams and current city council member Lisa Borgen.
