Spraying for mosquitoes scheduled amid rising West Nile cases

NORTH DAKOTA & MINNESOTA – Mosquito spraying has been scheduled in the Fargo-Moorhead area for Thursday, August 28.

Vector Control is set to do truck-mounted spraying after 7:30 PM in Fargo and West Fargo. Wednesday’s spraying was canceled because of low winds.

The City of Moorhead plans to do targeted ground-spraying at 8:15 PM.

North Dakota has 55 confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus this year, and Cass County has 14 according to the state’s department of health.

The CDC reports Minnesota has 20 confirmed human cases statewide and one in Clay County so far in 2025. Two people in Minnesota have died from the virus according to the state’s department of health.

Health officials warn the highest risk areas for West Nile in Minnesota are the western and central parts of the state.
