State Sen. Josh Boschee to announce campaign for Fargo mayor

FARGO, N.D. – Dem-NPL State Senator Josh Boschee is set to announce his campaign for mayor of Fargo at a community campaign event on Tuesday, January 6.

It will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rose Creek Event Center.

Boschee said he’s intentionally launching his campaign in a community setting adding he believes many Fargoans feel unheard by leaders in City Hall.

“Listening isn’t a campaign promise; it’s how better decisions get made and how trust gets rebuilt,” Boschee said in a press release. “If we want a city that works for everyone, leadership has to be collaborative, accessible, and grounded in real conversations with residents.”

Boschee was the first openly gay member of the North Dakota Legislature when he was sworn into his House of Representatives seat representing Fargo in 2013.

He said his campaign priorities include:

  • A Fresh, Accountable Direction for Fargo: Solving problems, not managing them, to improve quality of life citywide.

  • Public Safety That Builds Trust: Keeping neighborhoods safe by strengthening trust, transparency, and prevention.

  • Pragmatic, Fiscally Responsible Leadership: Smart budgeting that delivers results and respects taxpayers.

  • Real Solutions to Housing and Affordability: Coordinated, cost-effective approaches that reduce crisis and strengthen stability.

  • A Mayor Who Listens: Leadership that shows up, listens, and represents every neighborhood.

Boschee is scheduled to talk about his campaign on “The Jay Thomas Show” Wednesday, January 7 at 4:10 PM on WDAY Radio and The Flag.

Fargo Deputy Mayor Denise Kolpack announced her campaign for Fargo Mayor on Monday.
