MOORHEAD, Minn. – A teenager is in custody after police recovered a gun at the Alternative Learning Center on Wednesday.
According to police, staffers told school resources officers that they saw a 17-year old student drop a firearm while moving between classes at the center, which is inside the Moorhead High School Career Academy.
While the gun was recovered, authorities say the student “did not pose an active threat and had not made any threats of violence toward others.”
The Moorhead Police Department and Moorhead Area Public Schools remain committed to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff,” the city said in a statement.
