FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A load of sugar beets was spilled on Interstate-29 northbound on the north side of the exit for 13th Avenue South in Fargo on Tuesday, September 16.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., the North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to a sugar beet spill.
The sugar beets covered several lanes as NDHP was on scene directing traffic to drive away from the mess.
NDDOT was on scene to push the sugar beets off and away from incoming traffic.
“There is no vehicle out here that had lost the sugar beets. They didn’t stop after it occurred, so we’ll be following up with companies that do haul sugar beets in the area,” said Captain Niewind of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
There were no crashes that occurred following the spill, Niewind says.
According to NDHP, no injuries were involved and there was no property damage.
Workers from the NDDOT cleaned up the sugar beets off the interstate in just over 30 minutes.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol advises drivers to pay attention on the highway and get rid of any distractions in case an event happens where there’s a spill so they can call law enforcement immediately.
