Suspects in domestic assault and high-speed chase tracked down in Cass County

CASS COUNTY – Two men are facing multiple charges after an assault and chase through Cass County.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a juvenile requesting assistance along I-29 for a domestic assault at around 1 a.m. During the call, the connection was lost. Deputies were able to, however, reestablish contact with the juvenile and located her in Fargo. She was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation led authorities to identify the suspect and suspect vehicle.

The vehicle was located near Gardner. When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, they fled, and a pursuit began.

At one point, deputies ended the pursuit for safety reasons but continued to monitor the vehicle’s movements.

Shortly after, the vehicle was discovered crash and unoccupied. Authorities set up a perimeter and sent out a notification to local residents.

Through use of a North Dakota Highway Patrol drone and West Fargo Police Department K-9 unit, two suspects were located and taken into custody. Both were taken to the Cass County Jail on charges related to the incident.

The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Reece Harold, of Breckenridge, Minn., and 22-year-old Nicholas Hilsendeger, of Fargo.

Harold faces four charges – aggravated domestic assault, a Class C Felony; unlawful possession of meth paraphernalia – 2nd offense, a Class C Felony; fleeing in a motor vehicle, a Class C Felony; and driving under revocation, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Hilsendeger faces two charges – unlawful possession of meth paraphernalia – 2nd offense, a Class C Felony; and refusal to halt, a Class A Misdemeanor.
