HORACE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Business is off to a hot start for Memory Fireworks in Horace.
“The first few days have been pretty busy, but we expect this week to get even busier. The 3rd and 4th will probably be crazy, so we always tell people to come out earlier so you can avoid the crowds,” said David Reuter of Memory Fireworks.
Shelves are stocked to the brim with all kinds of fireworks. Most with a made in China label.
David Reuter of Memory Fireworks tells me prices haven’t really been impacted because they ordered their fireworks soon enough. At one point, tariffs hit 145%, but that number is now down 30%.
“It hasn’t affected us very much because we were fortunate to get a lot of our fireworks in early this year, so our prices have stayed the same or not much change at all, and the more concern is for next year to see what happens in the future with the tariffs if that doesn’t change” said Reuter.
Customers might be spared a price hike this year because retailers usually order their products a year in advance. But shoppers may notice a bump next year when the US marks its 250th birthday.
“So these next few years should be busy years, so that’s why we always try to tell people to get out here early to beat the crowds,” said Reuter.
Reuter says the most popular firework this year has been Dakota Rodeo Clown.
