The Flag’s Scott Hennen, owner of Moorhead’s Swing Barrel Brewing invited to State of the Union

WASHINGTON – “What’s On Your Mind?” host Scott Hennen has been invited to President Trump’s State of the Union Address by North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer and Moorhead’s Swing Barrel owner Sean Syverson has been invited by Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Hennen’s radio show airs statewide on weekdays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on AM 1100 The Flag in Fargo, AM 1090 The Flag in Tioga and Supertalk 1270 AM in Bismarck.

“I chose Scott Hennen as my invited guest for the State of the Union because I want to celebrate talk radio. Scott and I have worked together, him as a radio host and me as a fill-in, going all the way back to my days as Tourism Director and Economic Development Director in Ed Schafer’s administration,” Cramer said. “He and I have been doing talk radio hall since my very first day in Congress. And for over 13 years, I join Scott almost every week for an hour [and] take calls unfiltered.”

“Kevin has brought on many special guests over the years, ranging from Johnny Holm, Dale Brown, countless U.S. Senators, and President Donald Trump on several occasions. I’m proud that we were trailblazers by creating this first-in-the-nation platform, and we strive every week to report on numerous stories that are ignored by old media platforms. Talk radio was the first social media and remains a very effective way to directly connect with voters,” Hennen said.

Klobuchar said Syverson represents people impacted by tariffs.

Klobuchar heard from Syverson at his brewery last week. He said the unpredictability of tariff policies makes it difficult to plan for the future.

“What we need in order to survive as a small business is stability and a little predictability. When we don’t have those things it makes it a lot harder for us to make good solid business decisions,” Syverson said.

Klobuchar said she’s hearing about worries from Republicans, especially about losing overseas markets.

“What is making them concerned is that these markets are drying up overseas. You see countries like Canada have no choice but to make trade agreements with other countries and that is a huge long term problem for the U.S.,” Klobuchar said.
