Traill County pursuit, crash leaves motorcyclist with serious injuries

TRAILL COUNTY, ND – A Gardner man suffers serious injuries after a pursuit and crash in Traill County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the man was driving a motorcycle recklessly southbound on I-29 near the Mayville exit when called in. Troopers responded and attempted a traffic stop but the driver failed to comply and continued southbound at a high rate of speed.

At the exit for Highway 200A, the motorcyclist exited the interstate, went eastbound on Highway 200A and then southbound on County Road 81. The 19-year-old man failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, entered the west ditch, overturned a number of times and came to rest in the ditch where the driver was ejected.

Highway Patrol troopers rendered aid on scene, and the man was transported by ambulance before being life flighted.

Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
