President Trump says he has no plans to call Gov. Walz after lawmaker shootings

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump said he has no plans to call Governor Tim Walz after the deadly shooting of Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman on Saturday.

“I think the governor of Minnesota is so whacked out. I’m not calling him. Why would I call him?” the president told reporters on his way back from the G7 Summit in Canada early Tuesday morning.

“The guy doesn’t have a clue. He’s a mess.” Trump added.

Walz said Vice President JD Vance and former President Joe Biden have called him since the shootings.

Vance Boelter was taken into custody Sunday, accused of killing Hortman and her husband, Mark, and shooting State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Boelter is facing federal and state charges and could face the death penalty on federal charges if he’s convicted.
