When looking into removal process for Chief David Zibolski, Commissioner Turnberg told to ‘give the Mayor space’ and be patient

FARGO, ND – After receiving many emails, texts and calls, Fargo City Commissioner Michelle Turnberg says she’s looking into the process on removing Fargo Police Chief David Zibolski.

She says she’s been inundated with calls, texts and emails calling for action.

“I’ve been on my phone constantly all day,” Turnberg told The Flag’s Steve Hallstrom.

She says she has made contact with city officials to learn about the process, saying she’s requested Zibolski be removed from his position.

“I was told to give the mayor some space and to be patient,” Turnberg said.

She said she began looking into the process last night at the end of the commission meeting, saying ‘police officers deserve this treatment and this sort of hostile work environment they have to live in every day.’

Turnberg’s inquiries come hours after fellow commissioner Dave Piepkorn confirmed to Flag Family News that he will be seeking dismissal of Zibolski if he does not resign prior to the date of the next Fargo City Commission meeting, which is scheduled for August 18.
