Police identify those killed in Moorhead murder-suicide

Update 1:12 PM 8/18 – The Ramsey County, Minnesota Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people killed in a murder-suicide on Saturday.

Twenty-one-year-old Camilo Acosta and 53-year-old Nancy Acosta died. Moorhead Police hasn’t said if they’re related or who fired the gun.

“This incident will have a lasting impact on survivors and others in the community, and our thoughts go out to all of those affected,” the department said in a statement obtained by Flag Family News.

Moorhead, M.N. – Two people are dead after a shooting early Saturday in Moorhead.

According to a press release, authorities responded to an apartment building in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue South to investigate a report of a shooting just before 4am.

Police found two people, ages 21 and 43, dead from gunshot wounds inside an apartment unit.

Later that morning, Flag Family News spotted a Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension vehicle and a Moorhead police cruiser parked in front of the Midtown Manor Apartments at 1121 2nd Avenue South.

 

But it’s unknown if the shooting actually took place inside that particular apartment building.

One firearm was recovered, as police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

One juvenile and another adult were inside the unit when authorities arrived.

Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
