UND Officials Prioritize Safety Ahead of Turning Point USA Event

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -In the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination, attention is turning to Turning Point USA—the conservative student organization he founded. Kirk had been scheduled to appear at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks on October 9th as part of his fall 2025 tour.

While the event has not been canceled, UND officials say student safety will remain their top priority if it moves forward.

Rodney Clark, Associate Vice President of Public Safety and Chief of Police at UND, says campus safety teams had already been in conversation with student organizations and community leaders weeks before the Utah campus shooting.

“In light of recent events, I don’t think the system itself has changed, but now there’s a higher awareness of threat levels that could happen at events like this, like we’ve seen in Utah,” said Rodney Clark, “We try to take a real-time approach—looking at what’s happening at events across the country and applying that here at UND.”

Chief Clark says UND’s public safety team will continue assessing security in real time for the turning point USA.
