Veterans Honor Flight to take 200 veterans to Washington on Sunday

FARGO – Two planes carrying 200 veterans will depart Fargo’s Hector International Airport on Sunday.

Preparations began Saturday morning, where a group of volunteers unloaded wheelchairs from trucks and brought them into the airport.

The two flights will be staggered out of Fargo on Sunday.

The first plane’s veterans will arrive at the airport after parking their cars at the Fargodome or dropped off at the airport at 5:30 a.m. The first flight begins loading at 6:45 a.m., with departure at 7:30 a.m. aboard an Allegiant Airlines plane.

The second flight will begin arrival at 6:30 a.m., with the flight loading at 7:45 a.m. and departing at 8:30 a.m.

While in Washington, the veterans will visit the National Museum of the U.S. Army, Air Force Memorial, U.S. Marine Corps Museum, the National Archives, the Lincoln/Korean/Vietnam War Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, the Military Women’s and World War II memorials, along with FDR and the U.S. Navy’s memorial. The final stop will be Fort McHenry.
