MINNESOTA – Candlelight vigils in remembrance of Minnesota Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman are scheduled across the state this week.
The two were killed in what prosecutors call a politically targeted shooting at their Brooklyn Park home last Saturday.
Vigils, organized by county DFL units, are scheduled for Wednesday night including:
Moorhead – 8:30 at Viking Ship Park next to Hjemkomst Center
Crookston – 5:00 to 7:00 vigil and picnic at Wildwood Park
Alexandria – 8:00 at Big Ole Park
Saint Paul – 8:00 to 9:30 at the State Capitol
You’re asked to bring your own candle, but no sign of any kind.
If you can’t attend, vigil organizers suggest lighting a candle at home, turning on your porchlight or stepping outside and enjoy the sunset in honor of the Hortmans.
