Wahpeton man denied parole

BISMARCK, ND – A Wahpeton man has been denied parole.

The Parole Board met earlier this week, and among the cases was Chad Olson.

Olson is currently serving sentences of 10 years each on two separate counts – criminal vehicular homicide and duty in an accident involving death. The sentences are being served concurrently. He’s serving five years with the other five suspended.

The incident killed 20-year-old Bailey Bernstein. Olson, according to authorities, hit the 20-year-old and then fled the scene – being located three hours later by investigators.

The Parole Board denied his request for parole. He’ll be up for parole again in August 2027.
