MINNESOTA – Minnesota law allows people to carry handguns at the Capitol in St. Paul as long as the owner has a permit to carry, but Governor Tim Walz wants to change that.
“I made no bones about it, but I think it’s inappropriate that we carry guns in the capitol and we have to reassess that,” Walz said.
A registered Minnesota lobbyist was arrested for allegedly sending a text threatening violence at the State Capitol. According to Minnesota House Information Services, the message said “can’t wait to shoot you *expletives* at the Capitol” and was sent shortly before a vigil Wednesday night at the capitol for State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. Police say they were killed by a masked gunman in a targeted political shooting.
