WASHINGTON – Democratic Governors Tim Walz of Minnesota, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and Kathy Hochul of New York will testify before Congress about their state’s immigration policies.
The three will go before the House Oversight Committee on June 12th.
“Sanctuary policies only provide sanctuaries for criminal illegal aliens,” said House oversight Committee Chairman James Comer of Kentucky. “The Trump Administration is taking decisive action to deport criminal illegal aliens from our nation but reckless sanctuary states like Illinois, Minnesota, and New York are actively seeking to obstruct federal immigration enforcement.”
Comer went on to says the governors “must explain why they are prioritizing the protection of criminal illegal aliens over the safety of U.S. citizens, and they must be held accountable.”
Republicans have attempted to stop progressive immigration policies like sanctuary cities since President Donald Trump took office for his second term.
