Warrant issued for teen charged in Moorhead drive-by shooting

MOORHEAD, Minn. – A 17-year-old faces several charges, including two counts of murder, in a June Moorhead drive-by shooting.

They’re charged with:

  • Murder – 1st Degree With Intent – While Committing a Felony – Felony
  • Murder – 2nd Degree Drive by Shooting – Felony (3 counts)
  • Assault – 1st Degree Great Bodily Harm – Felony
  • Assault – 2nd Degree Dangerous Weapon – Felony (2 counts)
  • Dangerous Weapons – Drive by Shooting Towards a Person – Felony

The Clay County Attorney’s Office doesn’t have a comment on why the alleged shooter was charged with murder even though the 17-year-old who was shot hasn’t died. In Minnesota, juvenile cases are generally confidential.

A nationwide warrant has been issued for the accused shooter who won’t be identified publicly since he’s under age 18.

The shooting happened June 19 in the 1100 block of 12th Street South.

Police are still looking for a white Chrysler 300 with Minnesota plates EJJ-379 and a gun connected to the case. Authorities say the car has distinct red lettering on the upper part of the rear window.
