FARGO, N.D. – Beginning July 2, WDAY Radio will add a new voice to its lineup.
Former North Dakota Commerce Commissioner Michelle Kommer, a business owner and attorney, will host “The HighRoad” on WDAY Radio Thursdays at 11 a.m.
“I’m excited to bring The HighRoad to WDAY Radio because some of the most interesting conversations happen after the meeting is over,” says Michelle. “I’ve spent a career in business, law, government, and community leadership, and I’ve learned that while important decisions get made in board rooms, the conversations people have in the parking lot afterward are often the most honest and insightful.”
Kommer is founder and past president of the North Dakota Heart Gallery, along with a past board member for the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, Village Family Foundation and Churches United for the Homeless.
Steve Hallstrom, President and Managing Partner of Fieldstone Group, which owns WDAY Radio, calls Kommer ‘one of those unicorns that you are lucky to meet only a few times in your days on earth.’
“She might be President someday or she might run a small nonprofit out of her basement and I guarantee you whichever one she ends at will be the best run that office has ever been,” he said. “She’s also got a bright spirit and love for people that makes her a perfect fit behind the microphone. We are lucky to have her!”
Kommer says the program ‘will be a place for thoughtful discussion, practical wisdom, listener calls, expert guests, and humor (or at least attempts) about the beautiful chaos of being human.’
“We’ll talk about leadership, relationships, careers, parenting, ambition, resilience, reinvention, and all the things people discuss over coffee, cocktails, and text messages they probably shouldn’t send,” she said. “We’ll plan to say the things we are thinking – out loud – and tackle serious topics without taking ourselves too seriously. None of us have it all figured out, but together we might get a little closer.”
