Weapon discharged after off-duty officer barricades himself inside Devils Lake home

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The Devils Lake Police Department has provided more information on a critical incident.

According to a post on their Facebook page, police attempted to serve a search warrant at a house on the 300 block of 15th Avenue SE on Monday, September 8, around 11:00 P.M. The subject, an off-duty police officer, barricaded himself inside the home with a weapon.

Police and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office negotiated with the subject for several hours.

Shortly after 9:30 A.M. on September 9, a weapon was discharged and the subject was taken to CHI St. Alexius for medical attention.

There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
