WEST FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The City of West Fargo is announcing it has closed the Sheyenne Diversion gates.
In cooperation with Southeast Cass Water Resource District, the north and south gates have closed on the Sheyenne River. This diverts all flow around town from I-94 to the northern limits. City officials say this is expected to be a short closure.
The news release states, with the recent rain and Baldhill Dam discharge rates, there’s been lots of movement in the water levels throughout the river. Officials say they will monitor conditions, internal drainage systems and other infrastructure until water levels dissipate.
The Sheyenne River south of I-94 will flow full while the gates are closed so ensuring riverbank integrity is critical. The City of West Fargo says, it wants to remind residents, especially those with properties along the river south of I-94, to monitor and report on riverbank conditions.
