West Fargo, N.D. – Authorities say someone is allegedly calling people at random posing as a member of the West Fargo Police Department seeking donations for children.
The department says the scammer, who calls himself ‘Dan’, provides instructions to victims on how to send money that’s supposedly going to children in need.
The suspect also offers an option for someone to arrive at the victim’s door to collect money in person.
If you get such a call from someone claiming to be a police officer, authorities advise hanging up the phone and calling police right away to verify if the person indeed with the department.
