West Nile cases nearing 80 in North Dakota, hit 70 in Minnesota

BISMARCK – West Nile Virus continues to spread across the region.

The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says 78 cases of the virus have been reported in North Dakota so far this year – with a majority of them in men (43) versus women (35). Statistically, the majority of cases are affecting those over the age of 60, followed by the 30-39 and 40-49 age groups.

The counties with the highest number of cases are Cass County, reporting 16 cases, and Burleigh County, reporting 14 cases.

Minnesota is reporting 70 cases of the virus – with two reported in Clay County.

Across the nation, more than 1,100 cases of West Nile have been reported.
