Westside Elementary School cancels class today due to water main break

WEST FARGO, ND — School is canceled at Westside Elementary School today after a water main break early this morning.

Westside Elementary School Principal Chris Kalsow says the break caused no damage to anything inside the building. He says the break is expected to take the full day to fix, and are cancelling classes for the day as a precaution.

Below is a statement released by Westside Elementary School.

Westside Elementary families,

At 12:16AM this morning, the City of West Fargo alerted district leadership to a water main break at our school. Crews were able to determine the location of the break and got the water turned off to the school before any damage was done to the inside of the building. The nature of this break does necessitate leaving the water off until it can be fixed, which will take most of the day. Therefore, we are cancelling school for all Westside Elementary School learners for today, Wednesday, August 28. At this time, we are only anticipating this to be a one-day closure, but we will update you as we hear from the company hired to repair the break.

Sincerely
Chris Kalsow
Principal, Westside Elementary
