Missing woman in Dominican Republic likely last seen by MN college student

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic – A Minnesota college student may have been the last person to see a missing University of Pittsburgh student alive in the Dominican Republic.

Thursday, March 13 marks a week since Sudiksha Konanki vanished.

The 20-year old was last seen walking near a beach at a Punta Cana resort where a guest says the surf was very rough.

Police say they are not ruling out foul play in the case.

Konanki was also captured on surveillance video walking on the very same beach with 24-year-old St. Cloud State senior Joshua Riibe.

Riibe, who was previously questioned by police and hails from Iowa, says the pair waded into the water together and claims he trudged back to the shore alone, threw up and fell asleep on a lounge chair.

Authorities in Konanki’s home area of Loudon County, Virginia, also caution that Riibe is not a suspect.

Divers have been looking for Konanki’s body in the waters around the resort.
