FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A Moorhead woman has been sentenced for assaulting multiple people at a gas station in August, 2024.

Kimberly Soper was charged on August, 15, 2024 with child neglect, aggravated assault, 2 counts of simple assault, 2 counts of APC with a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to ND courts, Soper plead not guilty to all 8 counts on October 30, 2024. On May 19, she plead guilty to child neglect, aggravated assault, both counts of simple assault, and one count of APC with a minor. The other three charges were dismissed.

Soper was sentenced to 120 days in jail, but given credit for 94 days served. She was also sentenced to one year of supervised probation.

On August 13, Fargo Police responded to the Simonson’s Gas Station at 3810 Main Avenue for reports of a physical disturbance.

Upon arrival, police found Soper’s three children in the back seat of her car. Officers also say they could smell alcohol on Soper.

A woman at the gas station told police as she was walking back to her vehicle, Soper approached her and began making incoherent statements. The victim said she got into her car and shut the door. Soper then opened the door and continued making incoherent statements about finding a man to take care of her kids.

Police say Soper grabbed the victim by the throat and choked her for 5 seconds, and bit her ear. Court documents say the victim had visible redness on her neck and ear. Officers were also told that Soper pulled another person’s hair and punched a third person at the gas station.

While attempting to detain Soper, she physically resisted officers, ignored commands and damaged a person’s rear license plate.

Court records say during a search of Soper’s car officers found several open liquor bottles, 24.1 grams of marijuana, and a marijuana grinder. Soper refused to participate in a DUI testing process.
