FDA Paves Way To Allow Widespread At-Home COVID Tests

(Washington, DC) --  The FDA hopes to make it easier to get an at-home COVID test.

They're allowing some test developers to market their products for at-home use without further trials on people who aren't showing symptoms.

They say the change is meant to make it easier for consumers to test themselves before returning to school or work.

The FDA does warn some products are not as accurate on asymptomatic patients, but repeated testing over time can improve the overall accuracy of results.
