U.S. Department of Agriculture Moves Against Food Insecurity, Boosts SNAP

(Washington, DC) -- The Agriculture Department is increasing the federal program that aims to curb food insecurity in families.  

SNAP is getting three-and-a-half billion dollars from the massive stimulus package.

In a statement, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the agency is committed to fighting food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that the stimulus "brings help to those hurting the most" during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
