Scientists Say New CDC Mask Guidelines Increase Risk Of Spreading COVID-19

(Arlington, VA)  --  Some of the nation's leading infectious disease experts say the CDC's new mask guidelines could increase the risk of spreading COVID-19 in public spaces.  The Infectious Diseases Society of America explained the elevated risk is due to what one scientist said was "no information on how to apply the guidance in practice."  The CDC said people who are fully vaccinated can safely go out in public unmasked.  The scientists say the problem is that the new guidance operates on the honor system, and that people who aren't fully vaccinated will end up not wearing masks in public.
