Schumer Slams Senate Republicans on January 6th Commission Failed Vote, Republicans Respond

(Washington, DC) -- Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says he's "terribly disappointed" Senate Republicans blocked the formation of a January 6th Capitol attack commission.

The New York Democrat said our "democracy is at stake" because former President Trump keeps spreading the "big lie."

Six Republicans voted yes, including moderates like Susan Collins of Maine, Mitt Romney of Utah, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.  However, the measure failed to clear the 60 vote threshold as it only received 54 votes.

Indiana Republican Senator Mike Braun called it  "a partisan commission that seeks to exploit this tragedy for political gain."
