Donald Rumsfeld Dies At 88

(Taos, NM) -- Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is dead.

His family says the man who served in that role under two Presidents died at the age of 88 in New Mexico.

His family called him "an American statesman." Rumsfeld served in both the Gerald Ford and George W. Bush Administrations. He was the man in charge at the Pentagon during the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 and the subsequent wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He left the role for the second time in late 2006 amid criticism over the war in Iraq.
