$4.5B Settlement Reached With Purdue Pharma Concerning Opioid Crisis

(Boston, MA) -- A four-and-a-half-billion-dollar settlement is being reached with Purdue Pharma concerning their alleged role in the opioid crisis.

As part of the agreement, the OxyContin-maker will cease to exist and the Sackler family, which owns it, will be banned from the opioid business.

The money will go toward addiction-recovery programs as well as prevention and treatment.

In addition, all of Purdue Pharma's documents concerning their opioid business will be publicly disclosed and their executives will answer questions under oath.
