CDC: U.S. Life Expectancy Drops Due To Pandemic

(Washington, DC) -- U.S. life expectancy is down because of the pandemic.

A new CDC study says the average life expectancy fell by a year-and-a-half in 2020. The agency says this is primarily because of deaths related to COVID-19.

Based on its latest data, the report says U.S. life expectancy at birth was 77-point-three years, which is down from 78-point-eight years in 2019.

The report says Hispanic people experienced the largest decline in life expectancy.
