Weekly Jobless Claims Fall To 400,000

(Washington, DC) -- First-time claims for unemployment benefits are down.

Initial jobless claims fell to 400-thousand last week, which is a decline of 24-thousand from the previous week's revised total. Analysts expected to see 370-thousand Americans filing jobless claims.  

The biggest increases in initial claims were in Michigan, Texas, Kentucky, Missouri, and Illinois.  

The largest declines were in New York, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Georgia.
