University of Pittsburgh Develops New COVID Treatment

(Pittsburgh, PA) -- Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh say they've developed a new kind of treatment that can prevent COVID-19 and potentially cure those who get the virus.

Dr. Yi Shi and his team invented a nanobodies treatment that's administered through inhalation instead of a shot. The nanobodies go directly into the lungs where COVID-19 infections manifest, meaning the treatment could be more effective than an injection of vaccine into the bloodstream.

Pitt researchers are still in the animal testing phase, but could move into human clinical trials soon.
