Spirit Airlines Issues Apology Amid Widespread Flight Cancellations

(Miramar, FL) -- Spirit Airlines is apologizing on its fourth day of flight cancellations and delays.

The airline says the past three days have been "extremely difficult" for both its employees and customers. Aviation tracking website FlightAware reports the disruptions continued Wednesday, as more than 50-percent of the airline's schedule had already been canceled by mid-day, which is nearly 350 flights.

This comes after more than 60-percent of its schedule was canceled Tuesday, and more than 70-percent was canceled or delayed the day before.

Spirit says the contributing factors are weather challenges, system outages, and staffing shortages.
