Companies May Be Required To Make Smartphones Easier To Repair

(Washington, DC) -- Smartphone owners may soon have more options when it comes to repairing their devices.

The U.S. government is making a push for future smartphones to have the ability to be fixed at independent repair shops.

Last month, President Biden called on the Federal Trade Commission to create "right to repair" rules, which would prevent manufacturers from restricting independent shops or do-it-yourself repairs.

The FTC has since promised to put a stop to illegal repair restrictions.
