Fire Risk Leads To Massive Dehumidifier Recall

(Phoenix, AZ) -- Nearly two-and-a-half million dehumidifiers are being recalled because of a fire hazard.

More than 20 different brands including Commercial Cool, Edgestar, Honeywell, and Whirlpool are part of the recall. The dehumidifiers are anywhere between 25 and 74 pints and they're manufactured by New Widetech in China.

That company says it knows of more than 100 incidents where devices either caught fire or overheated.

There have been no injuries, but there has been about 17-million dollars in property damage.
