(Washington, DC) -- The House is taking action to avoid a government shutdown next week.
Lawmakers passed a bill Tuesday to extend funding through December 3rd and suspend the debt limit for a year after that. The measure now heads to the Senate where Republicans are expected to block it this week.
That means a shutdown could still happen if funding runs out after September 30th.
