CDC: Two separate Listeria outbreaks reported, related to packaged salads

(Washington, DC) -- The CDC is investigating two separate Listeria outbreaks, both associated with packaged salads.

The CDC lists two companies, both Fresh Express and Dole, who's salads are seemingly linked to the separate Listeria outbreaks. Listeria is a severe bacterial illness that can cause headaches, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, in addition to fever and muscle aches. Severe illness symptoms generally appear 1 to 4 weeks after eating food contaminated with Listeria, with cases known to start as early as the same day or as late as 70 days after consumption.

The CDC is advising people not to eat, sell, or serve the recalled products listed below.
