(Washington, DC) -- Certain immunocompromised kids can now get a third Pfizer vaccine dose.

The FDA has authorized a third dose for kids between five and eleven years of age. It's supposed to be given to kids in that age range who have undergone an organ transplant or have a condition that classifies them as immunocompromised. The FDA says those kids may not respond well to just the first two doses.

The agency emphasized kids who are five to eleven, but aren't dealing with underlying conditions don't need a third vaccine dose.
