(Washington, DC) -- President Biden met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually Monday, with a warning about Russian energy imports.

A White House statement Sunday said Biden will make it clear the U.S. does not want to see a surge in Indian imports of Russian energy. India has bought at least 13-million barrels of Russian crude oil since troops invaded Ukraine in late February.

India bought about 16-million barrels of Russian crude in all of 2021.
