(New York, NY) -- New York is honoring heroes Friday who helped in this week's subway shooting.

Transit workers will receive a special proclamation for their rescue efforts. They jumped into action after a gunman set off two smoke bombs on a train car and shot ten people.

The suspect remains behind bars. Frank James was denied bail during his first court appearance Thursday, but can apply for it down the road. He faces life in prison if convicted.

Nearly three dozen people were injured from the incident earlier this week, with 10 people being shot. Luckily, no life-threatening injuries occurred.
