(New York, NY) -- Former President Donald Trump says he used his Fifth Amendment right to not answer questions in a deposition in New York.

In a statement on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he had no choice but to "plead the Fifth" because his family, company, and friends are what he called "the targets of an unfounded, politically motivated Witch Hunt."

New York Attorney General Letitia James has said there's evidence the Trump Organization inflated real estate values to get favorable bank loans.
