Number of initial jobless claims jumps

(Washington, DC) -- The number of initial jobless claims is up.

The newest report from the U.S. Department of Labor shows the week ending August 6th saw 262-thousand initial claims filed. That's up from 248-thousand the previous week.

That number was revised from the initial report of 260-thousand claims being filed.

The four-week moving average is at 252-thousand claims. That's an increase of 45-hundred from the week before.
