(Lawrenceville, GA) -- Ford could be ordered to pay one-point-seven billion dollars in damages over the design of its F-250 pickup truck linked to the deaths of a Georgia couple.

An attorney representing the couple's family said a suburban Atlanta jury's ruling on Friday found the F-250's roof was dangerously week and susceptible to crushing people if the truck rolled over.

The couple was killed when a front tire on their 2002 F-250 blew out and the truck rolled over.

Ford says it plans to appeal the ruling.
