(Jerusalem) -- The Israeli government is pressuring the U.S. not to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal.

An Israeli national security adviser visited the White House on Tuesday and met with U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan. In a readout of the meeting, the White House says Sullivan underscored the Biden administration's "steadfast commitment to preserve and strengthen Israel's capability to deter its enemies," and "our commitment to ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon."

Former President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the Iran deal in 2018.

The Biden administration has been trying to revive the agreement.
